INTRODUCTION TO ACADEMIC LEADERSHIP<\/h1>\n<\/div>

This 3-day workshop is designed to provide an overview of the skills and strategies needed for effective Foundations Program administration. Graduate students and new Foundations administrators can use this workshop to explore the range of skills needed for effective administration.<\/p>\n

Focus\u00a0<\/strong>
\nLeadership is best understood within the context of action. Curricular change is the specific action that has the greatest effect on any academic program. In this workshop, we will focus on curriculum development both as an end in itself and as a means to explore broader leadership questions. Basic questions include:<\/p>\n

  • What is a curriculum?<\/li>\n
  • When is change needed?<\/li>\n
  • How can a new curriculum be developed?<\/li>\n
  • How can a new curriculum be implemented?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Format<\/strong>
    \nIntensive workshop, including lectures, break-out sessions, writing, team presentations and group discussion. This can be followed by development of a written program plan after the actual workshop ends.<\/p>\n
