PEDAGOGY: THEORY AND PRACTICE<\/h1>\n<\/div>

Description<\/strong>
\nThis 3-day workshop is designed to introduce the essential skills and strategies needed for effective Foundations Program teaching. For best results, at least four mentoring meetings (lead by experienced faculty on site) should be scheduled during the month after the workshop ends.<\/p>\n

Objectives<\/strong>
\nThis workshop is designed to help new teachers accomplish the following:<\/p>\n

    \n
  • Understand the relationship between a general Mission and specific coursework<\/li>\n
  • Understand the content of and connections between Foundation courses<\/li>\n
  • Design personal assignments which expand learning and inspire exploration<\/li>\n
  • Develop a repertoire of teaching methods: demonstration, coaching, critique, etc.<\/li>\n
  • Explore variations in presentation, such as headlining, pacing, small teams, etc.<\/li>\n
  • Understand and effectively use various forms of assessment.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Format<\/strong>
    \nIntensive workshop, including lectures, break-out sessions, writing, collaborative projects and group discussion. Can be expanded into a 5-day workshop, including hands-on work with visual books, Photoshop, or IMovie.<\/p>\n
